Mr & Mrs

Hi all,
Here is a quick share inspired but the current Stuff to Scrap challenge set by the very talented Rachael Funnell.

I kept this one nice and simple, and elegant due to the wedding theme. The extra criteria was to use butterflies, hand stitching (almost impossible to see in the photos but the chippie is held on by pink stitches) and of course chipboard. I have used WOW chipboard for my layout as I have no Stuff to scrap chippies.

No idea why this is sideways!
The chippie has been inked in silver and sprinkled with some silver glitter over some glue. Not very clear in the photos.
Materials: Coórdinations cardstock; prima flowers; zva bling; WOW chipboard; other: doily, butterfly.

Thanks for visiting!

Hi everyone,
Below is my latest blog post over at Alterd Project Inc. I'm a bit late this week, but not as late as this item is.  My nephew turned 6 in August and I have been meaning to get this done since then but with an overseas trip and extreme work stress, I've only just finished it. Slack, I know! We are in different states too so that means another couple of days to get this posted down to him.

I wanted to make him something functional yet decorative for his room and love the Kaisercraft Party Animals collection. Teamed up with their train tidy, its a great fun item for any kids room.

The kaiser wood items come as flat packed raw MDF so you need a good file to get rid of unwanted tabs from the edges. I then painted the pieces in the colours I wanted, but be mindful that the wood will swell so you may need to further sand down some parts to put it back together. I then cut out pieces of paper from the Party animals collection and decorated the train accordingly. I have used a couple of kaiser wood shapes also for extra dimension and some droplets. The train sections are linked together with some album rings.

This is a great project for a kids room, to store items such as pencils, small toys or other bits and pieces. It would also be great made up in christmas colours so that you can put lollies or other goodies in there and place it on the table for a decoration.

Have a great week.

Nephew

Hi all,
Well what a weekend I have had. The good news is I've been scrapping and creating, and actually finished one particular project that I started 2 months ago. Phew. But it has been a really awful day today otherwise.

Our oven died a few days ago so rather than repair it again, we are probably going to get a new one. Annoying but not the end of the world. Over the past few weeks there have been so many issues at work that its been downright horrible. Well today we got yet another disaster when our washing machine decided to flood half the house. It must have only been 10 minutes after I'd turned it out when my husband started calling out. It had just kept filling and water was covering our tiled areas through the laundry, up the hallway and into our dining area. The only reason he noticed is that the cat was walking along and trying to avoid water and looking at him for help. Still no idea what's happened but it took us a good 2 hours probably to get the water out again. Luckily no damage anywhere but what a horrible day. So that means a new oven and washing machine are on the agenda. Its BBQ for dinner tonight.

Here is a layout I completed last night. Its of my nephew Connor who is 6 now. I love this cute photo of him. I have used the sketch inspiration from A2Z Scraplets for this one.

I decided to leave the chipboard raw on this one as it compliments the colours in the layout and the bars in the photo. I was going to paint them white but was happy with the way they looked already.

Also I had intended to do the entire name using the letters cut from a page in the kaiser mini pad but for some reason it had no I's so I had to use the mini alphas for the middle name. How strange!
Materials: Kaiser Lullaby mini paper pad, mini alphas, white paper bloom; Prima flowers; RW Lasercuts title; A2Z scraplets flourish.

Thanks for looking :-)

Wicked Princesses September Kit Creations

Hi all
Thanks for your visits in the last couple of weeks despite my infrequent updates. I'm getting back to it now with a few creations to share in the next few days at least.

Here are my latest kit creations using the Togetherness kit from Wicked Princesses. This kit is huge so I have a lot of cardstock and other bits and pieces left over for another layout or cards. It has some great handmade embellishments and uses some funky Basic Grey and Scenic Route papers and extras.

You should pop on over to Wicked Princesses and check out the forum, gallery and of course the store if you haven't already. There is a fabulous cyber crop each month, and monthly challenges with prizes to win. Would love to see you there!

Long Time, No Post

Hi Everyone,
This has been the longest I have gone without a blog post since my blog started... oops. I want to thank everyone who has stopped by lately and I apologise for my absence. Its been a bit of a crazy time for me lately so my creating has slowed a little... but not much. I have a lot to share very soon, including my latest kit creations for Wicked Princesses in the next week.

Some of you may be aware that I am a psychologist. I am employed in a male high security correctional facility and have been there for more than 4 years... actually it was my first official psych job. Well due to lots of staff moving on to different career opportunities, I recently became the senior psychologist at the centre (Whoa... pressure!!!) so things have been insane. Our current situation is still a bit crazy with staff issues. The main reason for this is that the centre is soon closing down and we are instead taking over a brand new, state of the art prison about 50 minutes further west. Ick! So my 10 minute drive becomes a 50 minute drive to work soon... depressing. But what this means is a lot of staff leaving due to this not being suitable for them and there have also been personality challenges with new team members and at the moment I am a couple of days away from being the only psych in an almost 500 person centre. Eeeek! So that's a bit of an example of the crazy life I'm leading at the moment. But it's a really great opportunity and despite the high stress at the moment, I am loving the role. I'm so much busier and the days fly by. A lot more opportunity to do new things and develop existing things. Its also very flattering to make it to senior psychologist status at the age of 28. Not something I expected. I now have the role of mentoring and training probationary psychologists when it was not so long ago I was one.

Things should start to settle down soon so I'll be back up and scrapping like mad in no time! I did buy a stack of new gadgets from a craft expo in Brisbane on the weekend. Some fab Martha Stewart punches, some new nesting dies and other odds and ends. Lots of chipboard. I'm a little obsessed with chipboard.

See you all with updates again soon.

The layouts are featuring two of my nieces... Liarna and Keisha. Such beautiful little princesses! I absolutely love this paper collection by Making Memories in the kit. So incredibly girly and pretty. You will love this kit!
Also, this next layout is a joint challenge... the September inspiration challenge at Scrapbook Kits as well as one of my guest design creations using gorgeous items from D-Lish Scraps.

A couple more guest DT layouts to be released at a later time.
